Owarimonogatari Season 2 is now the highest rated anime on MAL

I just finished watching it and its quite good since it's supposed to wrap up everything in the monogatari series but since I've been watching it over the course of many years and always though the arcs were mostly independent stories without a big overarching plot It kind of killed the ending for me. What many people are giving a 10 I feel like giving a 7. Does anyone else watch the monogatari series? What do you think of the ending.
I feel this show needs a rewatch my me but I don't know if I can sit though all that dialouge again.

Wait, does it have only one episode?
And, I've been wanting to watch the Monogatari series for a long time, and I even put a list that details the chronological order.
And, regarding the rank, it currently has like 50,000 members and 9000 votes, so, it'll rapidly drop as time goes on. I do think that even Kimi no Na wa's rank will go down as it starts to accumulate even more members, and while I think it's very good, I don't think it's No. 1(Now No. 2) Ranked at MAL good.

MAL is skewed towards sequels. Only fans of the franchise would watch n-th installation of Monogatari series. So no wonder it got perfect scores, people who are watching it had already been predisposed to like it. Half the MAL's top list consists of sequels and such =) And new anime tend to get extra boost, thanks to the hype and probably to the fact that less enthusiastic people watch stuff slower.

I mean isn't everyone in the same boat? Bakemnogatari came out in 2009. When I started watching only bake nise and neko monogatari existed. In that huge span of time people would have forgotten stuff/lost some interest. Its not just me who had to wait a long time before watching the sequels. But most of the people I've seen seem to love it.

Don't get me wrong. I think Your Name is excellent. Just not something that deserves to sit above Death Note or FMAB(though I admit, they are apples and oranges).

Regarding this list, it still depends on whether people press the favourite button that's present in the anime page, so, it's not completely unbiased. To me, it's a combination of score and number of votes. All the Gin Tama sequels don't have as many votes as other anime that have similar ranks(like Gin Tama itself, and others like FMAB or Steins;Gate).

I guess I didn't research before commenting. I do agree that the limitation makes you think before you make a decison. Off the top of my head, I can think of 4 shows I'll instantly favourite(Death Note, FMA:B, Code Geass, Steins;Gate), but, even in that list, I have to decide whether to favourite CG season 1 or 2. I certainly won't favourite two anime belonging to the same franchise, so, that makes the decision even harder.
But, I don't agree to the point that everyone clicks the favourite button. The number of people clicking it does seem to be far lesser than those who either add the anime to the list, or those who give a score.

Hey, you do have me(although I'm a different case, I didn't even know it existed and I've been a user since Fall 2013). But. I do agree that in terms of 'objectively ranking' shows, if something like that even exists, this list is kind of more unbiased than a list in terms of score or popularity.
And, this is not boring, by the way. It's good to know that something like this exists. I find the list to be very fascinating. The last week mostly has a larger bump or drop-off in score than all the other weeks. Also, sequels generally start with a higher score. Also, the score either consistently decreases or increases for most anime. I guess that means a show that kind of recovers somewhere in the middle is pretty rare.
It's also weird that the only anime I've watched from this list is Masamune-kun no Revenge, which has the second highest overall drop-off. I did like it quite a bit.

True. I guess if it's limited to 10, people won't hand it out like freebies and think before they click the button.

That's true for anime which has Ecchi as a main trope too. There's this Summer 2017 anime called Hajimete no Gal that had a decent score during the first couple of weeks, but, dropped severely as weeks went on. It's still pretty popular though. It's the most watched anime this Summer on KissAnime.

FMA:B will probably drop out if more Gin Tama sequels come out. Each season is not exactly the most popular, but they all get high ratings. However, I don't take an anime that has less than 100,000 members and fewer number of votes into consideration when it pops up in the Top 50 list. I wait for it to see whether it can maintain the momentum. That's why I didn't watch Kimi no Na wa. immediately. Though, it still surprises me that it's at No. 1.

Watch the anime without taking it too seriously. None of the characters are annoying, I can tell you that. The MC is no punching bag, either. But, yeah, he doesn't exactly fall in love with any other girl(though other girls have a crush on him). His singular focus is to exact revenge on her. But, the anime has a lot of quippy and snappy dialogues, especially between the MC and the girl, and that makes it a lot of fun. It doesn't have a definitive ending, though. But, the anime is somewhat popular, so, I imagine it'd get a second season.

It is makes sense to me too. People who watch Hajimete no Gal for the fanservice get what they wanted in the first episode, and then the anime slowly loses its appeal. I might be wrong though, I still am perplexed as of why those downwards trends in scores are so well defined.

I mean, it isn't just that it will loose its position in top 5 or something, FMA:B will eventually loose its incredibly high score too. I think it is the effect of how MAL is set up, no show can have a score above 9 forever, it requires way too many people to give it a 10. And yeah, I agree about shows with less than 100k members who watched them.

Okay, I see =) I've read like half a chapter of the manga before the anime started airing, I kinda liked the idea of a guy who changed himself and now is trying to put up this act to exact his revenge. The revenge part wasn't all that interesting to me, but the small details, like him being stabbed by scissors and acting brave about it, that was fun to read =)

A few weeks ago, when I was on my way to my college, my friend, who had been watching this series, forced the first episode on me. It does have a lot of fan-service(and not just that, there's a guy who explicitly talks about how he loves little girls, and that pedophilia is his thing).

Yes. An extremely high number of 10's that far out-number the others. The same with Steins;Gate. As time passes it's bound to decrease. Though, it had a score below 8 for quite sometime right? Its score gradually increased over the years. For a good amount of time, Death Note was the No. 1 ranked anime in MAL, and it had a score below 9 too.

The anime(or manga) is very entertaining. I can guarantee you that. Can you recommend any high school anime?

Right. Though in reality anime like DBZ, Naruto and Pokemon had always been the ones that people watch first, it is just that casual viewers don't make accounts on MAL =) I always wonder about Death Note being an introductory show for the new fans, with it being so unique; people will watch it and then there is nothing else similar they can go on to. I also wonder if modern fans will find the animation good enough.

Yeah, except for Azumanga and Colorful. KyoAni makes pretty good slice of life anime.
