It's rather childish but with interesting characters. May be it's for young kids.
I saw this anime and most of the time, I wanted to drop it but couldn't.

I think it's good enough for younger teens =)
 

I liked the son more that's why i chose his image to be my avatar.
The art and the story seem childish to me.
Pumpkin witches are old school.
 
Try manga like bleach.
It's good but if you want to explore other genres. Try himitsu. It's gory but with good stories and cases.
