Well, just for the record, I've actually seen the anime....And, btw, the same guy who wrote Bakuman and the first 25 episodes of Death Note wrote the last 12 episodes of Death Note....
Good point =)
And, well, I'd say that character development is not exactly the strongest point of Psycho-Pass, but, my favourite character would be Makishima Shogo, and to some extent, Shinya Kogami......
As far as his 'motive' is concerned, uh, I would say he did feel out of place.....He felt that he was living in a dystopian world, with a system deciding everything for humans, and that they had no will.....He wanted to change that.....And, maybe, his lack of humanism made him kill people in those fashions.....
I thought you would pick Shogo or Kogami, they obviously stand out. I liked Masaoka, Akane and Kogami, though it took me a while to see Kogami as a character he is. Didn't like Makishima at all when I was watching the show; but that said, I wouldn't want to change anything in him cause together with everything else his character plays out perfectly. I really like how they made the ending, those few last minutes that we see of Makishima changed my perception of him.
I kinda see Makishima as this guy with romantic nature who have read too many books and learned to admire the old world, the world before Sybil. And as he had great power he devoted himself to bringing up the human nature as he saw it. He is like a Don Quixote of his age, I guess. It was not the impression I had while watching anime, but I got it after I thought about it for a while.
Well, I didn't really 'think' about it, I merely wrote what came to my mind......But, yes, as far as the last part of your reply is concerned, I am on the same page as you......
Oh really? =) Glad to hear that, I thought my take on Shogo would not find any support. Cause you see, from the beginning he seemed to be the kind of villain whose main feature is mental superiority and I thought that would be the his the image people would have of him. But by at the last few episodes I think Makishima clearly showed his human side, a glimpse of his weak human nature. Even at the end instead of telling Kogami about Sybil and thus creating a new enemy for the system he hated, instead of that he asked Kogami if he will be able to find himself another rival. That is such a human-like silly thing to say, but that was what Shogo was thinking about in his last moments =) I liked that little detail a lot.
@Sindar ,
@MadaraUchiha
Thy thinks mikishima is childish where as I think he is wicked.
What do you think?
That is an interesting summary

By childish do you mean that he is underdeveloped somehow? Cause I did not meant to say that. I think he is as developed and mature as a person can be, in a sense that he fully and effectively controls his life. His goals are absolutely impractical, but I don't think that is what we call being childish.
And what do you mean by wicked? You say it as if it is contradictory to my or Madara's opinion =)
