Your fav subject?

Yeah, kind of. It is a cool subject in its own right, being like physics, only you can clearly see all the axioms and make predictions based on them. It is very clean, methodology is worked out, things make sense. When you work on a mechanics problem it is kinda like solving a puzzle where you see all the pieces. I don't know if that is much different with physics, but I'd guess there it is like you half the pieces of that puzzle are hidden somewhere =)

Don't you like mechanics? ^^ It probably has some bad memories of boring high school classes associated with it :D
That's one of the reasons why I really like mechanics. There's no stupid assumptions, approximations(mostly), anywhere.

Yeah, it is one of those subjects which is basically a pure math with a few additional axioms. Yet somehow it describes the real world too, even if the accuracy is limited. Control Theory is also cool in that same way, you pretty much just study differential equations, but somehow this translates into being able to control all sorts of machines and robots. It is also one of the more creative subjects in maths.

This sem(it just got over), I had control systems. It was easily my favourite subject. Though, generating stuff like lead, lag systems were kind of pissing off.

I liked out enough. There were problems about force and calculation . It was fun but it's difficult. Are you into robotics but any chance?

It was more focused on all the things you mentioned than state-space analysis. We were taught the basics of state-space analysis, and that's pretty much it.

Aha, mechanics problems are fun =) Yep, I'm teaching robotics courses at a college.

You'll be able to pick up all the state space by yourself if you ever need to, it is easy and fun. Requires some linear algebra, but nothing crazy.

Yes, I know. By basics, I meant we did learn some quantitative and problem-solving stuff, but, see the thing is, I don't even know how in-depth they went.

This subject is a bit of a rabbit hole, it just keeps going. If you look at the fresh research papers - they are full of new ideas regarding state space control, a lot of it will probably make it into the textbooks in the next decades. So I mean, it is just how it is, the subject is just growing too fast, you can't learn all of it from a college course anyway =)

Yes, I understand. Plus, this is just it, I don't think I'm gonna continue studying this subject anymore.

Right. What's your specialization gonna be?

I haven't really decided yet. I feel like, I should give it another year, before deciding it.
Must be nice to be able to chose it later on =) I had to decide before entering the college, glad I didn't chose something boring.

I think I misunderstood your question. My specialisation is Electronics and Communication Engineering.

Actually, I'm gonna learn Arduino this year.
Have fun with that : D When I first saw it I thought it was almost a miracle. Before Arduino we had to solder our own programming boards, there was always this hassle with frying the computer ports or locking the microcontroller or just having some component falling out from the poorly soldered board.

I know that feeling. In our first year, we were taught to solder the boards and construct the circuits from scratch. And, it was the worst, literally.

The first time, I got the terminals all messed up and it didn't work. I did get better comparatively, but, I was still 'okay'.
