I have heard of them but never saw them. I do know that but knowing isn't exactly watching
I see. You'll definitely see them, just wait a bit =) Quadrotors are pretty useful for photography and such, they are probably going to be (or already are) the most popular type of non-industrial robots in the near future.Nel said:I have heard of them but never saw them. Nel said:Wait, those are just plain old toys. I am talking about the real robots that are tough .
Sindar said:Basically it means the machine has no pilot. That is a very hazy definition, but it works fine as a concept. If you buy yourself a vacuum cleaner robot, that would be it, a robot, cause the thing is going to autonomously move through the rooms and do its job. If you buy a RC car, that wouldn't be a robot, just a machine. I can name dozens of examples when this definition becomes useless and breaks apart, but it is fine, in practice we don't care too much whether or not things deserve to be called a "robot"=)
Nel said:There is a robot who can do vacuum cleaning? I like things that can do anything on their own ai and fuzzy logic.
Sindar said:Yep, and you can probably buy it in any big electronics shop near you. Google Roomba, they are the original ones (though there are plenty of cheaper ones now).
Sindar said:look simpler. It also tends to easily confuse people. I can't say I am a big fan.
Nah, fuzzy logic is just a fancy math tool, one of many people use, and it kinda has been going out of fashion in practical robotics lately, as far as I can tell.Nel said:I thought robots need fuzzy logic to make robots act autonomously. Tell me if I am wrong but I think even that vacuum robot needs fuzzy logic, to move around and to clean the house.

Nel said:Really? I thought that was what that allowed robots to make decent decisions
Nah, would be the same as posting my real name here. Sorry ^^/Nel said:Oh. Thank you. I get it a bit now. Can you post a pic of the robot that you have built sometime?

Well, I am not an assembly line worker, so yeah mine are =)Nel said:Why is that? Are robots unique?
