New Anime Sequels Announced

A lot of anime sequels have been announced in the past 2-3 weeks. Here's a few I recall:
Mob Psycho 100 season 2
Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka season 2
Chihayafuru season 3
Ultimate Survivor Kaiji Spin-off
Psycho-Pass movie trilogy

Mob Psycho 100 season 2 sounds interesting. Especially since it would be an adaptation of the same manga, so the quality has no reason to go down. Psycho Pass, sounds great too, though I am still behind of watching the second season ^^'

Have anyone here seen Ultimate Survivor Kaiji by the way?

Mob psycho 100 season 2 is already in my list and I am waiting for them to air it. Never heard of this Kaiji or did I? What's it about?

many of us watched the first season and it's relatively good. if you liked one punch man, then this is the anime for you

Have not watched any of those, the fact they are getting more means I'll just put them off till they are fully complete.

Mob Psycho 100 Season 2 is gonna be the last one, since the manga is over, and the first season adapted half the chapters.
Psycho-Pass is an original anime and is not based on anything so as long as it's successful, more stuff will keep coming.

Kaiji is widely regarded to be the best gambling anime ever made.
I haven't seen it but it's about this guy who's caught in debt, and he has to gamble to pay it off, and it becomes so adverse that he has to sacrifice his body parts sometimes.

Mob Psycho is basically Sakuga the anime(just like One Punch Man). Each episode has one or two long sequences of Sakuga that last for at least a few minutes. And, the Opening for the anime is probably the best Bones has ever made(yes, better than even FMAB's openings), and is probably in my top 5 openings of all time. It's named '99'.

The second season just wasn't worth it. Urobuchi Gen didn't return to write, and it's pretty apparent. I'd probably recommend skipping it.

I haven't, but I've been looking forward to watching it for a long time, especially after I watched One Outs(which is directed by the same guy who did Kaiji). I'll probably watch it in June or July. It's 52 episodes though(2 seasons), so that's going to take a lot of time.

Here's everything you need to know:

I'm actually not sure whether it's a continuation or a side story, but each movie focuses on two characters(details in the link), so all three are gonna be stand-alone, probably.
Did you watch the 2015 Psycho-Pass movie?

I didn't watch anymore than the first season.

Second season is really disappointing(as you may have already heard), so you may as well skip it.

I have heard a lot of good things about Mob Psycho, I do plan on checking it out and nothing better than binge watching a great series, where people have had to wait for another season :P

You don't like the anticipation of waiting for a week/discussion with other people, and episodes that end on a cliff-hanger?

You didn't? Even the last two episodes? Now I know that's a misleading thing to say since most last episodes of anime are visually spectacular, but this one had really, I mean really stunning sequences. I still remember some of the scenes(of course everything is Saitama just punching stuff but still). Heck, this made me reduce one whole point for Kekkai Sensen season 2, because Bones impressed me throughout the first 10 episodes with its incredible visuals, and the last 2 episodes were just... meh.

Flip Flappers is that anime that flopped hard, right? I have watched a few scenes here and there, and I have to admit, it does look really impressive. And, if we are talking about dynamic, I guess Redline would probably be a good example. I haven't even watched the movie but the few scenes I've seen speak for themselves.

I don't know. Maybe we have different tastes. But, it didn't have a good conflict, it had a weak antagonist, the story had gaping plot-holes, and they shoddily managed the absence of Kogami.

Oh yeah, the few scenes I saw of Kaiji were a gore-fest, unlike One Outs. I'll watch the season 1 at least.
And, is it really that popular, or are you saying that the fan-base is a vocal one, because Kaiji has always been a somewhat niche series from what I've seen.

I liked the Boros fight when I was watching it, but it didn't leave a lasting impression on me. This can be because of how unbelievable all of this stuff looked in the Murata's manga. The scenes in the manga were, as ridiculous as it sounds, more dynamic than in the adaptation. And I mean it in general, not just in this fight. When I was reading it I was sort of staring at a panel for a good minute, having the scene play out in my head. It is just hard to beat this experience. Plus, I knew all that was going to happen, so I was only watching for visual entertainment or something. I guess all of that together could have influenced my perception. I am not saying anything about the technical level of that animation, honestly I would have to rewatch it to say anything, I don't remember how good/bad it looked.

On the other hand I really liked the Saitama vs Genos fight and that scene where Genos was trying to destroy the meteor. These were really well done, I rewatched them multiple times.

Did it flop? I thought there were no expectations for it and it did just as it was expected to do - be a small niche show. I have no idea though : D It would be unfair to compare a tv series to a movie, they have completely different quality standards =) Redline is a pretty insane project, it is really impressive that Madhouse pulls off such things, making a single film for 7 years.

Okay =)

Gore fest o.O I thought it would be psychological, but not really graphic.. I am not saying it was either big or vocal fanbase, but from what I've seen people who read the manga like it a lot. It makes sense too, it is a huge weird looking manga about a dude gambling and surviving, you wouldn't keep reading it if you are not into the story =) Sort of how it was with JoJo 10 years ago, when there were no mainstream adaptations, but the fans were there. It is just my impression thought, I haven't talked to too many people who have read Kaiji.

Maybe that affected your perception. But I was consistently blown away by the anime(a lot of people were).

Flip Flappers sold like 800 copies in its first weekend, so yeah, that's a big flop alright.
And, no I'm not comparing the two, just citing an example. I guess you could say, Space Dandy, another anime I have not watched is a good example of something dynamic, and it's a TV series.

Well, he bets his body parts so yeah, there's gore alright.
But, JoJo is a mainstream manga in Japan, though. I'm not sure about Kaiji's popularity. Most manga that are mainstream in Japan tend to get popular here when they get a great adaptation.

The only prolific animator I know from that staff is Yutaka Nakamura, but, yeah I get your point.

Blu-ray sales, but the DVD sales flopped too.
By the way, the director of Flip Flappers established a new studio a few days back. Just letting you know.

The clips I saw were heavy on Sakuga, so maybe they were in the middle. It's a Bones show, and it's directed by Watanabe so there's probably a lot of great stuff.

Yeah. I avoid watching seasonal anime that aren't popular after the season is over because I don't feel like I'm having a communal experience. Berserk is something I'm gonna start after I finish Tokyo Ghoul manga. Got all the volumes. But first I'll watch the 1997 anime cuz I can't directly get into a manga.
Black Clover is a good example too, it's a rising shounen manga but because of a shoddy adaptation(my God) it didn't get quite as popular, even though it had a heavy marketing push from Crunchyroll.
For now, I'm looking forward to The Promised Neverland as far as new Shounen Jump titles are concerned.

Looks interesting. I am not into mind games with too much narration. I hope this one isn't like that.

I don't remember the names. There were some posts on https://blog.sakugabooru.com about it, they said there were like half a dozen big name animators working on OPM. When Mop Psycho came out they were also making a comparison between it and OPM; Mop Psycho had more younger animators, and some guest artists and so on. These guys are pretty amazing, they analyze credits after each episode and use other available info (including just knowing what particular artists' styles look like) to tell who did what in the episode. I haven't been keeping up with them for a while, since I wasn't watching seasonal stuff, but they used to be really interesting to read.

Oh. Kiyotaka Oshiyama did? Do you know the name of the studio? Where do you get all this awesome info by the way? : D

Oh I am sure there are tons of great sakuga in Space Dandy. I'm just saying this shows isn't all about dynamic movement like Mob Psycho is, they are also interested in the backgrounds and so on. Check it out:

And colorful stuff, with laser beams ^.^

That is what I wanna do too, watch the old adaptation and then read the manga. Dunno when I'll get to it though. I've started to watch things again, but the lineup is way too huge, and Berserk is nowhere to be seen yet xD Did you buy the manga?

Black Clover doesn't really look great on the image search =) The Promised Neverland looks really interesting though o.O It is a Jump title? I almost get Togashi vibes from the manga pages I saw.

Nakamura is often mentioned in Bones anime that have Sakuga, and that's how I came to know of his name.

From reddit. I spend like 5 minutes when I'm free browsing through the first two pages of reddit.com/r/anime and of course, what I get depends on the community, but still mostly they are stuff I'm interested in.

Yeah, those look beautiful alright. Not denying that.

Lol no way I bought it. I've no money. I got the digital scans of Dark Horse, by sailing the high seas.
I've been wanting to watch Berserk for a long time to but I haven't gotten around to it. As far as anime that aren't recent are concerned, for now, the first two in my list are Cowboy Bebop and Gurren Lagann, apart from stuff that are getting a sequel this year or next year.

Yeah, Promised Neverland is like 60 chapters old, I think.
Black Clover has pretty cool artwork actually, but the problem is it's sort of like all the cliches of popular shounen manga dumped into one during the first 60-70 chapters. The adaptation started when the manga had like 120 chapters, and instead of brushing through these, it had a lot of filler content and was really slow, apart from the really terrible voice acting of the main character in Japanese:
