New Anime Sequels Announced

I believe I mentioned it in my reply :).

The signature pose in Monogatari is the head tilt:

Though the above gif is sort of an extreme.

Haven't watched Madoka so wouldn't know(have seen clips though so I get what you are saying).
Monogatari is mostly characters sitting around and talking, and weird stuff popping up here and there, but what you are saying kind of applies here too. Though, Shaft tends to go all out when the end of an arc approaches, as I mentioned before. Here's an example:

I'll be sure to check it out then.

I'd say that the middle portion in which Balsa and Chagum are sitting around in a hut, Shuga is spouting expository plot points every single episode, etc can be easily cut out. Plus, I'd say that the first 6-7 episodes are close to perfect, so if you can bring it down to like 5, cut down the middle to like 3 or 4, you get 4 or 5 episodes for the last arc, which is more than enough. And, there'd be more tension felt, since all of that was sucked out during the middle.

I've heard about that one, didn't know it was about shogi though. That sounds kinda interesting. I might watch it someday. I'll probably watch Monogatari before that though =)

No, those interactions were enjoyable throughout the whole series. There were great moments before they settled at that old mill, during the times they were there and the time they spend in that cave was pretty much my fav part of the anime =) There isn't much character dynamics, like Chagum changes but others don't; but seeing them talk to each other and show off their personalities was really interesting for me. For one thing, I found that some characters, like Balsa, remind me of real people I met, which was a nice feeling. But other than that, I can't really say why I liked these dialogues, can't really put my finger on what it was. Maybe in the end it is like a painting, you just like it or you don't, you can't explain why.

By the way, Kubikiri is also an adaptation of a single novel. It is pretty packed though. Last episode is 40 minutes long : D

Get ready for 90 episodes and three movies, then. And make sure you watch it in release order, and not in the bullshit fan-made chronological order.

That's one major thing we differ, I guess. I like people sitting and talking, most shows I'm watching right now are exactly that, but to me it's just not done very well in this. Maybe it had to do with Chagum's really monotone voice acting. Or the fact that when I imagined it being taken away from the anime, it personally didn't change anything in the narrative a lot, at least in my opinion.

Whoa, that's probably a page-for-page adaptation then. In contrast, another one of Nisio Isin's works, Katanagatari, which has 12 volumes, has an adaptation that has 12 episodes, each 50 minutes and each adapts one novel.
I've only seen one episode, but it's wordy and has some cool ideas, and pretty good sword fights.

I see. I highly recommend it.

If they take a lot of breaks between weeks, or if they have like 3-4 recap episodes, they can manage, but I don't think that's practical. One series I've been wanting to watch for a long time, KonoSuba, is a TV anime and has 10 episodes.

That's nice.

But, would the channel allow something like that? They would like to maximise their profits if you look at it from their perspective, although yeah, wasted blocks would mean less ratings for them. But, that does seem more like an ideal scenario.
Maybe, there's a sort of block in a few channels for shows like FLCL that don't follow a seasonal cour-based system like every other show in Japan.

I'm pretty sure that won't happen since the production committees in the industry refuse to come to the modern world. Can't help those who still depend on Bluray and DVD for revenue, and don't pay shit to animators.
