I was surprised to know that full metal alchemist is a light novel. I have heard of spice and Wolf. Is it really good?

FMA originated from a manga, the novel has a different author and it came later, unless MAL lies to me =) Spice and Wolf is good enough, especially if you like medieval settings. It is about a merchant and a wolf goddess travelling together, her trying to get home, him trying to make profitable trades. Lots of talk about commerce, treachery, fights and romance, even some magic, but all cultured and reasonable. The soundtracks are amazing.

Are you talking about FMA? I never said that. FMA manga is really popular. FMA and FMAB anime are not based on a light novel. Besides, there are many scenes in the anime that look like they are straight from the pages of a manga. You can identify it if you look properly.

I thought that I heard that from you. My bad. What about death note?

It's also based on a manga. One more interesting fact, it serialized on Shounen Jump. I was caught off-guard when I came to know that.

Isn't shounen meant for Young males. That's surprising. I don't think death note of for kids. What is the popular anime that adapted from light novel?

It is. Shounen Jump is the biggest manga magazine, that serialized the likes of Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, etc.
Popular light novel adaptations include Fate/Zero, Haruhi Suzumiya, Sword Art Online, Baccano, Durarara, Golden Time, Monogatari Series.

I don't see how death note is just shounen rather than seinen. If it's manga j jump then how can it have light novels

Yeah, I've seen it.

Hunter x Hunter is also serialized in Shounen Jump =) With all the cut off heads and hands, human-eating monsters, Hisoka's perversions etc. They have surprisingly lax age targeting policies at this journal, I suppose all they care about is how popular the series is gonna be.

Shounen Magazine which serializes Fairy Tail and The Seven Deadly Sins also had been publishing Devilman, which is on a completely different level in terms of weirdness and violence.

Yes, he did seem to be a pedophile, and not just in HxH, Naruto did have some dark stuff too. But, HxH is a shounen manga/anime more than anything else, so that's why I was more surprised.

I feel like it's somewhere in-between. It's exhilarating enough for teenagers to enjoy, and mature enough for adults to enjoy.

I wanted to watch it but @Claraviolet said it's not worth the watch. But If you have seen it then I am going to watch it. Is it. A long anime?

No, I believe shounen is something that's accessible to all ages. Plus, in no way are Naruto; Shippuden and Hunter x Hunter childish. You show them to a ten year old and he/she wouldn't understand half of it.

That is an interesting point of view, I like that. I'd say both HxH and DN aren't holding back at all. But Death Note clearly tries to appeal to younger audience with its simple symbolism, quirky characters (like L and his followers). And HxH follows shounen anime formula with story structure. So that would put them in a in-between area, or something.

By the way, I am planning to read Boruto sooner or later, so I'll get to see what you mean about no one getting hurt =)

I thought seinen is what that's good for adults without being childish. A ten year old might not get it but a teenager will understand
