While I don't mind episodic anime, it's always second fiddle when I have an anime with an over-arching story. If the anime is more like Neon Genesis, or even Hyouka, I'd watch it. It's just that episodic anime are not suitable for binging. They become pretty stale.
Yeah I can see that. Though there isn't much of a plot progression in Evangelion, rather it is all about the mystery, the little pieces of the information the show feeds you every so often. It is far from being stale though =)

I forgot to say that I think Evangelion is an exception. It hooked me throughout, and didn't become boring. Though, I watched an episode a day after coming from school, so, I'm not sure how I would have felt if I had binged it. I encountered this problem with Hyouka, and with this crappy anime called Psychic Detective Yakumo. Hyouka is a good anime, but, not fit for binging.

As far as taking breaks is concerned, from intense anime that is, I sort of disagree with you because to me that reduces the tension I developed all along, and when I close it, it's all gone. And, to me, the problem is while episodic anime try to give unique episodes throughout, because of the lack of an over-arching story, I don't feel any weight or stakes or a sense of closure. I always feel like the creators are either holding back, or are being held by their throats, at least mostly.
And, I think I have to be more clear, Evangelion is an exception among the episodic ones I've watched. I don't know why I can't explain properly but something about episodic anime makes me want to avoid them.

I agree. But, I don't completely shun them. I have a fairly open mind. I mean, I'm sure there are thousands of people out there who watch anime just to have fun, and light-hearted episodic anime are perfect for that. I'm certainly going to watch Haruhi Suzumiya.

That won't even last a week.

You said you can't give too much time for anime this month. So I am suggesting small anime here

No no xD I'll support Haruhi or Barakamon (though I can predict I'll lag behind watching Barakamon >_>).

Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is actually a great anime for a supernatural + slice of life mixed genre. @BurnsyCEO made a fairly accurate description, but it is sort of like saying that Evangelion is an episodic monster-of-the-week mecha harem show with a wimpy protagonist. It is all true, but Evangelion is still an interesting and non-generic show, and there are lots of subtle moments you can discuss. Same with Haruhi.

No I didn't. I have all the time in the world this month, but, I'm not ready to devote the entire month for just one 45-episode anime.

I plant to, but I just don't watch a lot of anime, especially tv series.

I thought all the she was one aired on TV. Am I wrong?

I thought sorry series don't have enough time for character development are you fine with that?
