Why do Indians care a lot about long hair?

It's idiotic to be honest.
It's a pain to take care of the hair.. And everyone almost here got waist length hair...I have been thinking of cutting my hair ....but by Grandma wouldn't approve ;_;

If decision impact were on a scale from 1-100, where 100 is getting married, shifting abroad etc cutting your hair is a hard 1. If you can't do this what hope do you have later in life?
