Why aren't sports anime realistic?

I am referring to their exaggerated jumps or speed here.
What do you guys think about it? Do you think they are realistic enough? Or do you think that's a far-fetched idea when it comes to anime?

That heightened exaggeration makes it more impactful. Like whenever in Haikyuu the hands elongate when they punch the ball.

That speed and strength is close to being a monster in that anime.
That's how it is for me.

If everything is gonna be realistic what's the point of animation.

If it's a fantasy anime then it would have been justified but for a sports anime, I don't think it's appropriate.
In the end, it's just my opinion

Because they are all portraying sports geniuses.

That's a really good observation.
I am sure all the people in Haikyuu, Slam dunk are different from others. The main protagonists got some or the other skill.

then they wouldn't be interesting at all
i am sure many people would agree with that lol. and sports anime are getting popular these days
