What's your music taste history?

I'm big into my music and i was listening to a playlist this morning and realised my music taste was weird so i tried to remember what i grew up with.

Age 8-9 - Slipknot, Limp Bizkit, Nickleback

Age 15-16 - Bullet for my valentine

Age 17-20 - Asking Alexandria, Escape the Fate, Parkway Drive, Bury Tomorrow

Age 21-25 - Terror, Malevolence, Hatebreed, Clench your Fist, Spawn of Disgust

age 26-Now - See 17-20 with added country and 80's pop

What did you used to listen to?

Nothing, I wasn't big into music growing up. Didn't get into music till I got internet access and more access to Jpop songs.

My taste hasn’t really changed much, I still enjoy most of what I listened to back then.

I think it’s because Alternative/Punk is kind of vast, so while I can add a new subgenre, it didn’t leave that umbrella.

I feel that. I still listen to all of the stuff listed above and more but i tend to focus on one genre above the rest at different times

Didn't really listen to songs as a kid but in my teens my favorite band was Hollywood undead. I too liked Nickleback which is something people don't admit in public lol. Now Aimer would be my favorite singer by far.

Nickelback’s been the “cool band” to hate on for people who pretend they have taste online for awhile. Those always shift around with whoever’s popular on the charts at the time.

It’s fun seeing the bands I liked from middle/high school that was considered “gay poser shit” is now basically legend status, and their respective scenes are pretending the hate never happened. Hybrid Theory and Meteora by Linkin Park was “accepted” by the music press and overall community fairly recently.

I like all the music and I listen to good old and new and there isn't much of a difference between them. Music makes me forget about everything but I am tone deaf or else I would have considered some career in music.

My taste hasn't changed really either. I personally prefer Soft Rock of the 1980’s. Bands like Chicago, REO Speedwagon, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard. The music in the 80’s consisted of big hair bands as well as electronic dance music. I know many artists also utilized synthesizers. The songs I liked consisted of finding & having love, beating the odds in life. I’m not too keen on the newer music. Maybe I’m biased lol & because I grew up with a certain type so anything less is ‘not good enough’.

Mine is all over the place. I grew up with rock and pop from the 70s from my Mum and country from my grandparents. I like 70s/80s pop and rock, Enya, Heavy metal opera, some RAP, and a lot of jazz. Of the more recent stuff I like Imagine Dragons, Owl City, FUN, Panic at the Disco

Can you recommend some heavy metal opera? I've never heard of it but it sounds interesting. Unless you meant to put a comma haha

Growing up we had no choice but to listen to indian film music and then around 13-15 I started listening to rock/pop..have been loving linkin park since then, nickelback, maroon 5 and a few others

My taste hasn't changed since then but the only difference is I find myself drawn to indian film music now lol
