What are your thoughts on the inclusion of diversity of cast in anime?

If the anime is supposed to be based on a certain culture or nation, then it would depend on if it is based on the current era (where it is likely that you would experience some diversity in certain areas of the world), if it is based on the future (diversity dependent, based on what the anime is focused on), and if it is based on the past.

There aren't too many anime with this in mind but usually their targeted audience is their own nation people, and it's not something they would think in general

Seriously, they should think about their own audience first no matter what they doing because it's what would fetch them more money, so it's very important.

Well, I have never thought of it. But that will be am extremely good platfrom for spreading our message to stop racism

Personally I think it’ll depend on the setting. Japan is mostly ethnically homogenous, so if the series takes place in Japan it’s going to be an entirely Japanese cast of characters.

If the series takes place outside of Japan, then sure whatever.

I mean Luffy is Brazilian Oda did a Q & A and had stated the main casts nationality. and after learning that, one piece to me made alot more sense character wise and just completed a puzzle for me figuring out what they were. Though i will say it doesn't matter it's just a nice bit of info to know.

Luffy (Brazil)
Zoro (Japan)
Nami (Sweden)
Usopp (Africa)
Sanji (France)
Chopper (Canada)
Robin (Russia)
Franky (America)
Brook (Austria)

How does the concept of countries make literally any sense when the world map looks like this?
