Video Games to movie convertion

I just saw trailer of Sonic the movie. WTF. I know that they are doing their best but i'm pretty sure that this one will be a big failure again. Fishy looking Sonic and stray away too much from basic concept. I knew it, video game convertion to movies always suck big times.

Let's say Mario Bros, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, and honorable mention : Dragon Ball are all suck

To be honest i never seem live adaptation from anime/manga, are they suck big time too?

There is a reason why a video game is a video game and an anime is an anime. Some can be crossed over to other media that isn't of the same type but its rare and Sonic just isn't one of them.

Thankfully Sonic is being changed.

Interaction is the primary novelty of video games, no matter how good the story is and these people don't understand that for some reason. They always try to cram the whole thing into one movie even though it can't possibly work, since it's several hours worth of story and some games don't even have many characters. Assassin's Creed was probably really guilty of this.
Sonic I think could be done well provided they just go for a movie that's just fun and ridiculous and not have any overly-complicated story.

I think the design is the issue I don't really remember Sonic having any defined personality. Unlike say Pikachu. Detective Pikachu looks pretty good to be honest.

Yes the design, and Sonic usually operated on nature, i see to much street and human enviroment on the trailer, and instead of his trusted partner Tails he just got human partner
I haven't seen Detective Pikachu trailer so i can't say much about it
