Trying to survive but only barely

My savings aren't enough and I should have demanded more compensation from ex before the deport.
Why is it so hard to survive?

If you're in a survival situation, you need to stop everything and take a look around to see where you're at.
Shelter? Food? Safety?

Unfortunately, we live in a modern society that requires money to operate. That means exchanging your time for money. So what are your skills that you can trade for money? You'll need to look for day jobs (jobs that pay at the end of the day). Probably physically-demanding jobs will be available. You need to figure out where to generate an income stream from something that's reliable. You may have to completely rebuild your life. You may need to stop spending money on anything that doesn't directly relate to keeping a roof over your head and food in your belly (like I'm going through, although, I've been in worse spots before.)

I am sorry to hear, Rinko. It is a very tough spot to be barely sub-existing. I really hope things get better for you. You deserve to thrive and I hope little by little you find a way to get out of just barely surviving and can have the way to enjoy your living.

I don't have any tips that would anything you didn't know before today but I am happy to share dust from my own road if that is something you'd like, again nothing ground breaking.

For now, I just want to agree that things are getting tougher. I don't understand what lengths parents have to go right now to give their kids a proper childhood, because when I was a kid my dad working part time was enough to live a nice mid-class life. Nowadays it seems to me that two people working full time doesn't even cover anywhere near for a family with a kid or more to have that kind of leisure.

Big hugs, Rinku.

i am so sorry hun
try not to dwell on anything and see what you have to do. you will be just fine. believe in yourself

Thank you for each and everyone one of you. I never thought people would care and would give advice when it comes to earning money, having a roof over your head , survival and I am happy to meet such warm people.

just try what you can and everything will be fine

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I think everyone offered some good advice, lots of places like retailers are always looking for workers. Then look at what you're paying for and budget your money. Most retailers also give out employee discount cards to their employees after a certain period of time. When I worked at Walmart I got my discount card 90 days after my hiring date. It's rough out there, also if you don't have money to afford groceries always check out your local food pantries and see if they can give you food. I grew up poor so we had to get food from the food pantry quite often.

Indeed, the food discount is one of the only benefits that keeps me where I'm at. We get to buy things at cost, and it's bulk, so it's initially expensive, but like 50 pounds of sugar easily lasts me three months, with heavy baking. 15 dozen extra large eggs lasts me about four months (yeah, lots of omelettes!) 40 pounds of rice lasts me six months. Just these three things costs me about $100. And I need to catch an Uber to take me home, so that's another $30. Because I'm not buying these staples every couple of weeks, I take my money and buy veggies and occasionally some meat. I've also been exploring other ethic culture's foods. Latino-centric is a lot of rice and beans, Indian also has a lot of rice. Chinese has noodles, and I've learned how to make my own noodles from scratch. Japanese uses a lot of veggies.

Here's a hint, if anybody has a Restaurant Depot near them, you can have a membership, so long as you own a business. Any business. It could be a Sole Proprietorship, or an LLC. This is what I'm working on to get out of Retail. I'm eventually going to start my own LLC, and then I can buy my food as a customer, rather than as an employee. Just so I can still have access to the cheap bulk food prices.

I know this may not help you right now, but perhaps in the future it could be handy.

I used to have everything lined up for me. After moving , I feel like everything has become slightly inexpensive but it's harder to earn money. I always thought I wouldn't have too much trouble surviving but I haven't worked for a day in 18 years and now I feel like I can't do much of anything. Even the physical labor jobs are not available for me nearby. I would have given everything to remain in the states where I could probably get into local initiatives of black woman but now I am a mess. I don't know what will happen. Money would last me for 4 years but after that I will probably end up on streets
