Removing advertising section

I would recommend this strongly man.
I am sure many people agree with me on this. Do consider it man

I do think it's a good idea.
Not the best idea but there is no point in having an advertising section here

You talked about it before
I didn't take it seriously but having an advertising section doesn't really make much sense to me

Is there a reason it needs to be removed?

i don't see the point lol
and i think some websites are deleted and none of those websites link back to maf. so why should we?

Perhaps MAF could replace the advertising board with an affiliates section. I can understand the frustration with people not linking back, or having an advertising section on their own forum where MAF could be advertised, so an affiliate system (where you each have the others button on your page) seems like a good compromise to me.

I don't agree with removing this section. It might not be as active right now but it is used ever so often. It's your decision but I don't recommend it.
Yes it is possible to link back from YouTube. I did it with my site. You just have to put it in the description.

but small websites would want that and that necessarily help maf out

None of them are linking back and they just want their own websites or channels to get popular

She is really sweet
I do agree that we can make an exception for her and she makes good posts for the forum

MAF doesn't necessarily have to agree to every affiliate request, there's plenty of sites out there who have certain requirements before you request affiliation (e.g. your site must have X active members).
Honestly, I suggest this because an advertising section is kind of pointless, but an affiliate section definitely helps your SEO score - +1 affiliate is +1 referring domain, which Google really likes. Even if the site you affiliate with is smaller than you, it's still one more domain with your link on it. Whereas with advertising, websites often prune their advertising board every month, making it useless for SEO.

I'm definitely no expert on it either, it's only something I'm starting to pay attention to now, but backlinks seem to be one of the biggest ways to boost your position in search engines, next to sharing on social media.
