Old Anime vs New Anime

Old Anime = Before 2001
New Anime - 2001 - onwards

Anime and "manga" are interchangeable here as well.

I feel like old anime is better. I feel like the stories felt more genuine. I feel like new anime today, is just too bland because most animes just tell the same story, over and over again "like most battle animes/manga". Of course, there are animes that are an exception like code geass, hunter x hunter, FMAB. My thoughts are just about new anime in general.

What are your thoughts?

As long as its good I am not too picky on how new, old or how good it looks.

if animation is bad, you can't get into it that much. did you watch any old anime and thought i could watch it for hours and days?

No offense, but people who say that need to get over their bias, and actually try to watch anime that have come post-2000. Sure, every year, before 2000, had probably like 20-25 anime produced, and these days, there's 45-50 anime per season, (and more than 150 anime per year), but, that by itself means statistically, there are good anime per year now more than ever. All you need to do is just ignore the ones that are bad or mediocre, because they are, you don't need to count them. For every Slam Dunk, Ashita no Joe or Captain Tsubasa, we've had Hajime no Ippo, Kuroko no Basuke, Ping Pong, Diamond no Ace, Chihayafuru, Haikyuu, Redline. For every DBZ or Yu Yu Hakushou, we have HxH, FMAB, Shokugeki no Souma, Nanatsu no Taizai, Attack on Titan and of course, Naruto and Bleach. I can go on and on. Sure you could say that there hasn't been anything like Neon Genesis Evangelion, but that's Evangelion. It's unique and there's nothing like it.
That's not to say I don't like old anime, I want to watch old anime too, and I have watched quite a few, Cardcaptor Sakura, Evangelion, Rurouni Kenshin. But I watch everything with an open mind, be it old or new.

new anime rely on fan service mostly and that itself says it lacks decent plot but i might be wrong about this

Again, statistics. Plus, fan-service doesn't necessary mean the show is bad, if it is necessary.

I agree with this 100% but there are some new anime/manga that are actually story based, but otherwise, i prefer old over new it's just more story driven and good!

I mean, both Monogatari and Shokugeki no Souma are loaded with fan-service, and they are both nothing short of great.
I can't really comment on old anime with any authority since I've barely scratched the surface. But, this old vs new is always something I don't agree with, be it any medium, not just anime.

It's a cognitive biass you have because you haven't watched every one of the old animes and are basing it only on the ones that got popular and so got embeded in history as the "classics". There have been far more great anime after 2000 than before.

Yaoifangirl has a point tho. Theres way more fanservice because people have a lot shorter attension span in this day and age and if a manga/anime isn't getting high enough ratings, the publisher pulls the plug on it. That leads to the style of anime we keep seeing today where after every episode/chapter has to entertain by itself, usually by trying to shock the viewers or other methods like fanservice. Gone are the days where you see slow character and world building leading to shows being more of a journey like the original naruto and inuyasha and instead get excessive plot twists, cliffhangars, deaths like AOT.I dropped game of thrones for that same reason.

Basically the market demands edgy high octane shows now instead of slower paced story driven ones.

I won't deny that new anime is a bit too much fan service based and at times not holding up well in quality. Which at the same time old anime can be a bit hard to watch due to its limitations of the day but it really focused well on story over any fan service.

It's a give or take but I think anime running between 1990-2010 really are the best.

I'm aware that old animes do have fan service, series like Ikki tousen for example. But I'm positive whatever you find isn't near as much as today's animes hold.

some old anime don't have censored content. it's uncensored like sensitive pornograph but new anime don't have that at all. it's always censored.

it does depend on what you watch, but I'm saying more anime these days are geared towards ecchi fan service than those in the past in terms of what came out during a season.
