and i always go for mainstream anime because of the hype

A lot of harems are pretty popular. There’s also different levels of mainstream. There’s normie tier, like the guy across the street has heard of the name, then there’s mainstream within the community, where a large majority knows it exists.

You’re not going to easily find a random person on the street that knows it, but if you go to an anime community, people know it.
