Learning sign language

Do you think that this would be something that you would want to do? I actually decided to use youtube and try to learn a bit

I've never once in my entire life encountered a situation where I'd need to use it and if I was going to spend so much time learning something like that I'd rather spend it learning a language I can actually use.

Of course not. Theres a few things I would even consider being a bigger waste of time.

I'm sorry but that is very hypocritical of you. Would it not be nice to be able to communicate with a deaf or dumb person if you met one?

Hypocritical? What? Also if you consider how what percentage of people are actually deaf or mute it is a complete waste of time be because I'll probably never meet one. I can think of a thousand other more useful things I could learn.

It is a shame that there is not such a thing as a universal sign language. It all varies depending on the region.
That said I always felt compelled to it. It can be pretty useful even if you're not deft, for example, if there's a lot of noise or you're behind a closed window you can still get your message across.

It is the regional limitation and that I don't know anyone else to use and practice this with that has always stopped me from trying at all.

Life is amazing at times. I once thought like you both and now I have a job where I tend to have to work with people who can only communicate through sign language and I wish I had taken the time to learn some.

You just never know what you will need in life.

I agree but it's not nice to call it a waste of time is all that I'm saying.

Good point but I didn't know that there were so many variations....hmmm asl seems to be most dominant so I think I will start there.

If that ever happens I'll learn it. It looks pretty easy. Till then it's absolutely a waste considering what I studied and how little that will help me in my field.

As I said. I like to learn new things so maybe I would if given the chance. Life is short but full of opportunities to make the journey more fun and you should take them is all I'm saying. I can see that you are not interested in sign language and that's ok, not everyone is interested in the same things ::)You should try to step out of your comfort zone once in a while is all that I'm saying :)

After watching anime having this, I get the urge to learn it too but it will be gone soon.
I don't think I can learn it man

It doesn't look that hard though but it is up to you. I'm sure that you can do whatever you put your mind to hun :)

I don't know anyone who would want me to put it to use, around me.
There is no point in learning it man.

Thanks man and what can I say, I chose boring subjects to get better grades without much effort and now I am paying for it.
