Why is it famous only in Japan but not in other countries?
That doesn't make much sense to me.

There are a variety of reasons, I guess..... One Piece dubbing is horrible; when it first was aired, it suffered heavy censoring, so its PR took a hit; Naruto got more games and other stuff than Naruto, initially; Naruto has more appeal than One Piece to kids, because it has Ninja, comedy, etc., though this is not that good a reason, because the same could be said about One Piece; you can also say that the art in One Piece is quite odd, but, this is not that strong a reason.......

That is number of copies of manga volumes sold, I think =)

Censoring?
I don't think they have any romance in that anime. Why do they need to censor it?

Total contest refers to everything. Not just statistics of just one state, country or one place.
