How to get notifications for replies to my threads?

i don't get notifications unless someone quotes me or tags me.
in our previous forum software we used to get notifications if someone posts a reply to the created threads. is there a way to do this?
 
Are you Watching topics that you start and/or reply to? In the upper right-hand corner? You might need to manually choose to Watch a topic.

If you go to your account settings, then user preferences and select all the settings that you want to receive alerts for.

It’ll then send you alerts for everything that you have checked.

i checked that.
only found subscribing to the threads. but if the other person is not quoting me i don't want to get notified.
does it make any sense?
