clara would go nuts if she sees itachi facepalming for this anime but i get this. i didn't like when they killed the goblin kids and it's not helping that the animation is very good. i didn't think it would be beautiful like that.
I wanted to watch this before the season started but ended up watching other anime(Bunny Girl Senpai, Run with the Wind, Isekai Slime, among new anime). I did become curious about it when there was a big furore over this anime having rape(or rather portraying rape in an insensitive way). I watched the first episode and I didn't really like it. Not for the rape thing and all, I'm tone deaf when it comes to those things but, I didn't really like the art and animation, and the characters themselves were just... there. They obviously were there to be killed. And I felt like I got everything the anime would offer from the first episode, the Goblin Slayer mercilessly killing goblins with gratuitous blood. The problem was that it wasn't edgy enough for me, so I couldn't even watch it as a guilty pleasure. I'd rather watch High School of the Dead or Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress.
I did watch the video after I watched episode 1 and I agree that everyone blew this anime way out of proportions, considering that it's not very good.

i never knew an anime with a rape scene in it, unless it's hentai. this is news to em and i never knew a young woman would make out of it alive without getting killed after it.

From what I know, Berserk has a rape scene in it, and an on-going anime called Banana Fish is about a rape victim, it's also Shonen-ai. And both of them are done in a way that's not insensitive, according to fans of the series.

I will most likely forget this is a bad anime in the future and end up seeing it anyways. Usually even the worst anime has some redeeming quality.

But it's different from Monogatari. Monogatari relies mostly on word-play and like really weird and great editing, but this one is more laid back in that sense, it mostly relies on quick, snappy and quippy dialogues. Just give episode 1 a try, and see if you like it. Or episodes 1-3, it's sort of an arc.
I caught up to the latest episode(which is eight as of this moment) , and episode 2 is a better representation of what this anime is. Just a fun RPG with a group of people. It's entertaining enough, and bloody enough so if you want to pass the time for 25 minutes without getting bored I guess this is not a bad option.

To be honest the only thing common is the premise. The Monogatari series is a lot different.
