Do you think anime shouldn't involve sensitive topics?

It all depends on the nature of sensitivity.
May be it's better to, not to step on a minefield, deliberately.

Eh, I think I think it is fine. Like with everything rather than blaming an anime for involving a sensitive topic usually my issue is with how they handle the topic itself.

a

anything particularly sensitive lol. like cr1me at a young age, or something else

that's a good thinking kaynil
I didn’t know crime was so edgy it has to be censored. You might as well just censor every word in your sentences now.

lol alright i won't. i just don't how to say draw-uh-gggs. so i said crime lol

lol what?
I've told you before to just stick to censoring swear words. The random other words that you're being overly cautious over looks ridiculously stupid.

I don't understand censoring words that aren't even censored on TV and radio.

I feel like it should be like everything else and play it safe for the most part, but it should be allowed to push the line a bit if it works and fits the shows. Granted it needs to fit the show and genre, but I would not be a fan of say Gundam getting involved with Trump or Dragon Ball joining the COVID vaccine debate. It wouldn't really make much sense. The same thing for questionable activities as at no point do I want to be watching Lufy trying to find the One Piece, but all of a sudden he is hooking up with a minor at seas and the show goes down a filler arc of legally defending these actions due to international water laws.

Now I am curious on what other words have been self-censored and in what funny ways.
It's probably just easier to go through her post history to see what random words she self censors. It's almost any word with a negative connotation. (should negative be censored too? OH NO!!!1"

It really looks like you got so scared that now you’re self censoring words that nobody bans, to where it makes you look dumb. Which is ironic when you whine about people calling you dumb.

Also that part about the usual swear words is a complete lie. There’s a ton of words you censor that aren’t swear words.

usual i censor words that could trigger people's anger.
like the drughs , jail time and such. i got called a b1tch to use the second word towards someone. how would i know they really served 5 years there? more than 20 people wanted the people to ban me. and everytime i post something, they would unilaterally start swearing at me. when i thought of quitting after 1 day, i got banned from there.

there is more to a behavior than we know grung. but you are right. i shouldn't be a coward and it's been a long time

People over blow trigger words for attention. It becomes a slippery slope from there, as any word technically is a trigger word.

You should just realize that community was full of shitty people, and you shouldn’t be walking on eggshells because of one experience.

It is a tough lesson I am still learning but yeah, it is a futile battle trying to never rock the boat, someone will take offense to something you say or you don't say no matter how careful you are, and when it is reaching the point where you are not enjoying yourself and overthinking every word, there is not harm in taking a step back to remind ourselves that we are trying to be considerate and that we can't control how other people react.

I also know the first communities can really mark you when you have bad experiences, hopefully little by little you can prove to yourself that at least here, you can be a bit more chill. I'm sure most of us have an idea of where Clara/Star/staff would draw the line. Most words like 'crime and drugs' is more about the context and the area that just the fact we are mentioning them.

By the way, was there an anime or scene in specific that made you think about this topic?

Pretty much.

I just talk however I want until someone says something about it. If they tell me in a non-douchy manner, I’ll more often than not apologize and not do it anymore. I’ll only not do it if they insulted me while telling me not to say it.

I do agree that self censoring for alleged trigger words is a never ending battle. Even completely innocent words can be a trigger. You just end up getting worried about where to draw the line instead of just having a conversation.

That’s why if someone self censors, just stick to stuff like swear words. Self censoring words with negative connotations just gets to a point where it’s more silly than being cautious.
