Do you find harem setting annoying in anime?

Sometimes I think most of the characters are pitiful trying their hardest even when they know it's all meaningless. Do you all feel the same?

Even so, if your favourite character is going to be cast aside, wouldn't you feel bad for them?
Not just them and even the other characters apart from the main couple can be pitiful and senseless in a way

It depends on how it works in the context of the story.
 
I'm more concerned about the male protagonist.. if he didn't aware about that so many girls like him then it's kinda annoying
