well it might be an upto service possibly ?

so speed will depend on how far you are from the exchange or cab...

or you may have a fault on your line possibly...

is it 3mb over WIFI or hardwired ?

It's wifi senpai. Hardwired. I don't know about it but I have been using this connection ever since I was a kid. My parents never said anything about the connection so I never saw a problem.

if you dont have an ethernet cable that you can plug into your router and the device you are testing from you can check your router settings and see what speed the router is receiving,

as you can get WIFI interference which will decrease your speed over WIFI, WIFI isn't the most reliable really

Does wifi, wire make a difference? I refused wired network as it was too much of a pain to move around.

What do you mean by that senpai? Everyone is using wifi. What's wrong with it? Why is it not reliable?

well yes, the best connection is a direct connection, this would be a wired network. you cannot get any interference on it.
every business has will have wired connections to all their PC's, all IT equipment required for netwrok will be wired.

WIFI is fine when it works, but as its a frequency it is prone to inteference, yes its more convenient but it is prone to inteference from other routers and even objects.

the speeds can fluctuate too, over a wired connection if you are getting 20mb you will get 20mb to the device. unless theirs a line fault or something or a faulty cable.

Then is it true that latest devices get more bandwidth in a wi-fi network senpai?Is it possible to get the best bandwidth in a wi-fi network?

im not sure what you mean by this, if you are referring to your internet package of which you get is 10mb.

if you have better WIFI devices this will not increase, or are you reffering to something else ?

im assuming you mean the highest speed possible here. well you can get the same or very close of the speed you get over wired connection.
first of all it depends in you are getting wireless interference, if you want good WIFI, most people invest in high end AC routers, which have 2 WIFI band.

first check what speed you are getting to the router, you can check this my running speed test on of your devices via cable connection to your router, or you can check your routers settings and it will display what speed its getting,

My home got a wi-fi senpai and my brothers use it too. My younger brother got a brand new laptop recently and he gets most of the bandwidth. I tried QOS settings and tweaked stuff but so far nothing worked and then I read about this in quora that latest devices get most of the bandwidth

i see that sucks... the more devices on the network the slower it will get..
 

i only work with routers really..

most is just my own knowledge or stuff i have picked up from other colleagues ..

i guess with WIFI, newer devices will preform better over WIFI then others.. stronger signal etc..

Oh man..so it is true....shucks..no wonder my sis is hogging all the bandwidth.
Now I wanna murder whomsoever built that laptop for her.
 


Well, the ethernet connection should be connected the wifi device to make it work. Otherwise, there would be hell to pay.....my sister can make quite the racket.

well i may have a solution ....

depending on what router you have you can actually throttle other devices and prioritize your machine.

its normally called QoS (Quality of Service) Bandwidth control or bandwidth throttling depending on router.

if your router doesn't have it, you might be able to flash software onto it.. but it can be a bit tricky...
