Well, I'd say that it'd be better to add 2-3 famous main characters(duh, Luffy Naruto, etc.,), and a 'not-so-famous' main character, so that it won't appear generic......

Sure.
Even though we have enough to get a theme as of now. We are trying to save it in case the mybb 2.0 gets released and everything takes another turn. mybb 2.0 is by default responsive :D

well you dont want it cluttered with characters, also of what i have seen most dont have more than 3, like 1-3 is ok anything more just doesn't look right.

Thus looks good as it is... If you do add 2-3 characters, it shouldn't look any bad so I suggest you go for it.
P.s. the smudging or cloning in the right side smoke should be a little merged with the background....personal opinion >.>

Well, we still have the problem of adding a banner to this theme :(
