Are isekai or medieval fantasies really profitable to the point we keep getting them?

They're easy to pick up and watch. They're easy to write because the authors can make whatever world and rules they want to. Plus I get the feeling it caters to people wanting a escape into a fantasy world.

That makes a lot of sense.
No wonder we keep getting a lot of such anime.

Some fantasy stuff, they try and explain how the world and magic functions, but since a lot of isekais are based on RPG’s, they just use up magic points and level up.

Also the hard sword and sorcery stuff had a pretty niche audience, so throwing in video game elements made it more palatable for a general audience.

They are viewed a lot. I am sure even people who criticize such anime actually watches them a lot as well. There are many who watches them and think they are similar but still love them too

I would say they are very well received and if they are not too good, we wouldn't be getting too many anime for the same genre.
