Anime with bad voice acting

It's more about.. i'm tired with typical character like that, and the story is too typical too

then most of the characters are like that
alright but you should get annoyed by naruto too.

Naruto. I especially annoyed by his over obsession to Sasuke
no wonder you don't like sasuke at all
because you like naruto so much, you didn't like how sasuke treated him.

Outside of a small number of standouts, a lot of 90's and early 2000's dubs were pretty bad. There were some I thought were good at the time, and if I go back now, they're pretty hard to watch.

Also the Ghost Stories dub is a masterpiece.

i watched ghost stories but the plot isn't too great
you are right about voice acting in dub and it's truly good.

The boring plot is pretty much why the dub threw the script out the window. You know nobody cares about the actual show when Japan has a subbed version of the English dub.

that's true too
and i don't think anyone ever noticed about the subbed version if the dub becomes a hit. it happened with naruto

Well with Naruto, you have to consider how old the show is. Due to technological limitations, being a sub watcher was a royal pain in the ass until the end of the 2000’s.

you are right about that.
i haven't really thought of that and now, it makes more sense. all the anime getting released now have subtitles and they are in eng.

Back then fansubs used to be the only option, but you did run into ongoing translation errors that caused confusion and uninformed backlash towards official translations. One persistent error is the navy vs marine debate in the One Piece community, which was initially fueled by the 4kids dub.

yeah i remember that i think
but fansubs should never be compared to official subs.

Well back then there weren't much of any official subs, or they came out years later. So at that point, you were already accustomed to the fansub.

Fansubs were treated as more "authentic" back then, because the only professionally translated anime most majority of people were exposed to were TV dubs, and most were subject to some form of censorship to be on TV. So if you couple those two together, it harbored some form of distrust between fans and the anime companies.

While these still exist, there also were different fansub groups that each had their own unique spin on the script. So it was really dumb reading debates from a bunch of weabs, who openly admit to knowing zero Japanese, arguing over which fansub was more accurate. This fueled some hypocritical stances, like how prosubs are dumb because they're not "authentic to the original Japanese dialog unlike fansubs", but simultaneously championing an openly incorrect fansub "Because it has more character".

I thought fansubs do that to make money.
I had been wrong about it and they don't usually ask for me donations. If I had known that, I wouldn't have criticized their work.

I'll still criticize their work, just not on the same level as an official translation. Things like excessive swearing or messing up character names I find are kind of inexcusable.

Me too
But usually I don't mind them too much if it's their persona work.

I can't help but get annoyed when they jack up pre-existing western names. I can't tell if they do that on purpose, or are just that oblivious.

I like the Trails of Cold Steel games, but when I see how some people are anal over using the fan translated names irks me. Some names could be left up to debate, like Arisa vs Alisa, or Millium vs Miriam, as both versions are actual names, but stuff like Raura and Clow vs Laura and Crow are just bad.
