The only time having too good of a first episode is a downside.!

The story begins with our protagonist whisked away into a parallel world with magic and monsters and heroes, something which has literally never happened to any other anime main character ever.........

Even the other 3 heroes know the drill and they act like hot shit who've done this before which was pretty funny and it tells me the show knows it's not unique and so it doesn't even try to be something it's not and just embraces the joke so that's a thumbs up for me. But here's the catch, the show realizes it's on the road to being generic trash and throws you a curveball of a plot twist and it is a DAMN good one catching everyone watching the show by surprise and getting this show on everyone's radar with just it's first episode., hooking people like me who would not have watched it otherwise.

At the start of the show you're reeeaaaaaaaaallly going to hate one character and you watch the show hoping to see some sweet payback and it will easily be one of the main reasons for continuing the show.
But alas, the show simply takes a wrong turn after the first 4 episodes and devolves into waifu bait, an mmorpg game, some irrelevant side stories and a basic harem fantasy (with kids). The warning signs were always there, I just kept expecting it to get good again.
Along the way you get baited again where the show slowly makes you think it forgot what you felt during episode 1 and then drops you one of the best revenge porn moments you're gonna experience which also turned out to be way more hilarious than I was expecting.

The story is really mediocre after the first few episodes, there's tonne of content that was just them travelling around in villages and solving problems and fighting some random enemies. Even the main driving force of the plot the "waves" is mostly some generic monsters coming out of a portal needed t be slain. It does technically progress the story but there's still so many plot holes it makes the whole story feel fake and tacked on.
It gets a 6/10

Now the characters are what made this show. Our main character naofumi is very relate able and I saw myself understanding his actions a lot more than any usual anime protagonist. Of course this was just at the start when the writing was good. The real gem of the show could have been Raphtalia, the first addition to his harem and the only character who adds so much value to the show. She was a super good character but past episode 4 she barely saw any development. Though she gives one of the most amazing and heartwarming speeches in that episode, one that I had to rewatch. I'm not even going to mention the others in his harem, I don't like any of them. Plus a villan you can genuinely hate more than some mass murdering psycho in other anime. Characters could have been a 9 but after averaging it out it's a 7/10

The animation isn't really bad, except for the copious use of CG which was very noticeable. The range of colors used felt kind of small making a lot of the show look pretty desaturated for a colorful isekai. Animation is a 7.5/10

The openings are pretty good especially the second one and the OSTs are not noticeable and therefore also forgettable.

This show never got bad enough to drop it, but it felt like a chore to sit through at many times and you might watch for the couple of good moments later on. Are they worth it??? Well really depends because I don't think it was worth it but it has a score of 8+ on MAL so a lot of other people seem to like it.

never heard of it.
and an actual harem with no jealousy? that's very weird and more than one protagonist in this anime is interesting

the person is making a jab at what the anime really is, but its name is The rising of the shield hero.

Honestly if a show has a score of 8+ in MAL from a good number of people it'll probably stay that way or maybe drop slightly to 7.7 or something.
As for the anime I personally thought it slowly started falling apart after every episode. They put too much focus on the harem and they kept travelling and travelling and it started to get annoying. The last arc also felt a little unfulfilling except maybe for the judgement episode. The other three heroes themselves were a bit too annoying actually. The spear guy especially was just a gullible idiot.
Honeslty I thought the anime had a lot of interesting stuff that it could have dealt with but it did nothing. Be it revenge itself or other aspects. The world itself is pretty bland, it's the capital city plus a bunch of villages suffering and Naofume saving them. The only standout part was sadly what happens in the first episode and some moments where Naofumi and Raphtalia shine. And the characters themselves are basically the same in the beginning and in the end except maybe Naofumi to a small extent.
And I didn't like the colour scheme itself, it had a brown tint which kinda made it look ugly. The OP and ED were very good though.

Filo was the most annoying character. Her whole concept was stupid. Spear hero as at least supposed to be gulible. What even happened with naofumi in the last episode? Did he just decide he was going to stay there and voila problem solved. The magic that was going to take him back was no longer going to? Cause that's all I got from what they said.

Filo is the loli character lol that's it. Starting from SAO every anime had one.

I actually have no idea. I mean it's like he changed his mind at the last moment. Unlike other isekai anime it's actually implied that there's a way to go back so makes no sense.

But theres been no indication it's something he can choose.

Well he kept saying he'd return after the waves are over so there must have been something mentioned.
