Zero post count accounts deletion

100% sounds so cool my lady xD
but deleting real accounts can be troublesome at some point x(

Well, we will see when that time comes. It's not like they have anything else to secure.
it's been more than an year and they haven't made a single post.

I just hope you guys tried to email them a warning of the deletion. If they haven't posted it could easily mean they lost the link to the place. Being deleted sounds harsh, especially knowing they were legitimate accounts.

Man, @Testaccount. I guess even if they didn't agree it is now late as those members have been deleted from the database. :(

Even though they are real people.
Deleting spam accounts in one thins and deleting real accounts is another thing.

Why don't you pray to god, namely me to not to repeat this?

This is going to be a big disadvantage. Even a troll like me can see that.
@Sindar @MelloLily @MadaraUchiha @Ace @Mansi14 I thought you disagreed with this. Are you really sure about this?

Testaccount, yes I agree, I do it on my own forums. How is it a disadvantage?
Kaynil, if they have 0 posts, is it really a big deal? If they become serious in the future, all they'll have to do is create a new account and make posts. They won't miss it if they've never used it, nor will they be mad about it being deleted when there was nothing on the account anyway. Making a new account takes a few minutes, and then they're back where they started.

I hope it is clear my concern is not the deletion of accounts themselves as much as that lack of desire to even try to reach out for them outside the boards before going ahead with it. I understand many administrators do it but I think is a mistake to assume they all don't care and don't matter. It takes little effort to send a warning email to zero post accounts telling them they have a week to change their situation. Just deleting their accounts completely exterminates that chance declares them all guilty unless proven innocent which is not a nice feeling in the receiving end. I've been there.

I've been back thanks to such emails and my account has been in risk to pruning in places I have posted before. Yeah, somehow my account became a zero post one and thanks to the email I get informed of it and I am not talking about 5 posts either. Sometimes I've lost the way back when a place changed name and url. It happens. your computer crashes in the wrong time, the community gets hacked or changes while you're off and by the time you're back the url gives you a 404 error or you just don't have the url anymore. That email can make the day of one old member that had already given up on us.

You see, a common error is to think that a post counter accurately reflects a member involvement with the community and that zero posts must mean the user has never ever posted. While this might be true in many communities, this is not the case in some others.

Communities like AMF, that are result of merge and rearrangement of a member database could have potentially lost posts in the merge and rearranging the areas. It can also have locked some of those members if the software resetted passwords. Also, we know AMF has some sections, like the forum games, that do not count posts which is fairly recent chance considering for how long have the forums be up for.

Lastly, we know of the case of @Vampire, a legitimate user that lost his account in the prune before this one, even though he was far from being a zero post user. He proved your point of joining again, but not everybody will take kindly having their effort being thrown away and then just shrugged away by the staff. The 100% doesn't mean no mistakes have been made this time, just that the remaining accounts have more than zero post in their display.

In the end I am speaking taking in account all of what AMF has potentially gone through, so my concern is not just because. You might disagree or minimise things but I am just expanding on this to explain better where I come from. What's done is done and there's not much point whining about it.

Well, we did send emails about it but not right before the deletion. We have announced that their accounts will be deleted if they don't secure their account by making posts.

They have been contacted via email and had many months to login and make a post. Do you want us to track down where they live and knock on their door?

That is fine, Star. If you guys at some point emailed them about the purge intention then it is up to them even if it wasn't close to when it actually happened. You extended them the courtesy and the benefit of doubt with it. If they missed it or didn't care that is out of your control. You gave them a window and that makes a big difference.

I think this is something that might help calm a little bit the other members that find controversial to delete legitimate accounts. Like I said before I wasn't really trying to pick a fight over something that already happened. I was just trying to explain where I was coming from with my concern and hoping that even if I was late for this time I could at least entice the practice next time a prune is planned. Because of that, I apologise if my second post was too confusing or convoluted.

Everyone is supporting this crazy idea I suppose.
I don't have any say in it. Fine. I got it.

Everything here is weird.
No other forum deletes spam posts. They just move to them to a hidden area but here, we don't consider games posts and not you are deleting 0 post accounts.
Everything we are doing is just wrong.

Even though your pose isn't directed to me, I will have to make something clear to you. We are not trying to make something that is active even though it's obviously not and we are not trying to make the forum look big with spammers and such.
That is all there is to it.

I think you are talking about post there.
Spammers are not outward appearances are important too.

I am glad that I made some posts and this might piss of some members.
It's a good thing and a harsh thing.

We are well aware of that but due to some circumstances, we got tired of spam accounts and we are trying to consider quality over quantity :D
