Would you still be a human and retain your humanity?

Both Shinichi (Parasyte) and Kaneki (Tokyo Ghoul) seems to have difficulty to accept that they are no longer human, or at least a normal human.

What would you do if you're on their place?
 
It's been quite a while since I watched Parasyte, so I can't weigh in too much on this right now, but as a small grammatical detail: to retain means to keep. So your title is asking 'would you still be a human or stay human'... which doesn't seem like what you'd be asking. If I'm wrong, you're free to make fun of me. XD
 
i think i would be just like them..
no one can accept being monsters very easily. i wouldn't want to be a monster

Yes grammatical error, it supposed to be 'and' than 'or' haha.. i'll fix it

people with a weaker will might die.
if kaneki refused to have anything which is not human food, do you think he would have survived? and not many people can eat human meat
