Would you give up or...?

Okay so.. let's say that you are enter a competition (any competition, just decide it yourself, i don't want to be too detailed). With hard work and effort at last you reach the final round. So this opponent of yours seems to be poor and also wanted to win the competition to get the prize money to feed their poor family. What would you do? Give your best effort to win or give up because you feel sorry to your opponent?

And as usual, why?
 
I would try to win and then I would share the prize with him man.
I don't think giving up would make that man who the competition and it's not a good thing to do

I would give my all but help them out if I won..however I might withdraw if they are the type that might not be comfortable with hand outs

I would give my all but help them out if I won..however I might withdraw if they are the type that might not be comfortable with hand outs. bottom line is if I can't figure out a way to help us both and I'm better of than them then I will give up for them...humanity speaks volumes :)

I would never not give my all if it's a competition I want to win. Maybe I can give the other guy handouts if I see he needs it but winning is everything.

Also match throwing is a bannable and career ruining offense if it gets out so no sane person would do it just so the other guy can have an meaningless victory.

There isn't a correct answer for this question.
I will try to help both of us by coming up with 'something'. I am not so sure what that something could be at the moment
