Why the hate towards power of friendship in anime?

There’s a ton of documented evidence that you have it backwards. The anime was the one that was heavily censored, and the manga was mostly uncensored. Yugioh’s censorship by 4kids is one of the most talked about when people bring up 4kids. Things like invisible guns, sling shots, and overplay of the shadow realm. You should see the scenes where they compare and contrast the dub and the sub.

even watching yugioh non-4 kids it was duel monsters, in the one i referenced it was straight up murder, etc. and i never said "original" i just said yugioh, before you go and accuse me you should make sure what one i'm talking about.

Tbh, when you go and read your post, it definitely reads off like you’re saying the NA version of the manga replaced the shadow realm with murder, which is why it’s easy to interpret it as the opposite of what 4kids did.

i was just stating it was the english version not 4kids, or subbed however you wanna word it. it does come off odd i admit

So are you saying the murder wasn’t there in the Japanese manga? I just assumed it was there, because around the time the manga was coming out officially in English, the heavy censorship in the 4kids version of Duel Monsters was being revealed online. I kind of remember murder being there in what the fans dub as Season Zero, but I also haven’t seen it in like 15 years.

i could never find the japanese version hence the one i'm pointing out is that one.

the anime i watched was most likly 4 kids

the one i read was completely different, and i looked into it.

all i know is it wasn't no duel monsters.
wasn't 4 kids
didn't have japanese versions

yu-gi-oh where i am had been oddly missing, came off air on tv mid way through
wasn't sold in stores cards, anime, manga.
and when i looked for them online yes pirated and not pirated, was only the one version.

only recently was it showing on netflix to my knowledge and viz media's site is just a jumbled mess.

could i be wrong? of course. and if i am i apologize i'm only explaining it how i've viewed it

Well the first seven volumes of the manga was primarily random games where either murder or mind break happened to those who lost. The final arc was Bakura trying to kill them in essentially a DnD game, and and earlier arc had Kaiba was trying to kill Yugi for defeating him in Duel Monsters. Yugi also had a guy set himself on fire in ch3. That set was released in anime form and was called Season Zero by fans because it never left Japan.

Most fans are familiar with the Duel Monsters anime, which was the second section of the manga, and second anime adaptation, and that’s the one dubbed by 4Kids with heavy censorship and death replaced by the shadow realm.

the one you explained with murder sounds on point to what i remember.

Well that’s the part I’m confused about the North American version being screwed over with the shadow realm vs murder thing, because if you watch Season Zero, the murder and stuff was definitely supposed to be there iirc.

read* and might've been the way i worded it i don't recall my original thought process when writing it now

I mentioned watching Season Zero more so for comparison of whether they altered the manga scenes based off of what you said in your initial comment about the North American manga.

gottcha, i've lost you now. it's like we've gone in a loop and at some point i veered off and slammed myself into a dead end, all i know is it was about yugioh

It happens to me a lot too.
I lose track of the original purpose of the argument when I kept going.

ye especially when multi-tasking gets a bit hard to keep on track

I agree with that completely.
I get sidetracked a lot when the argument prolongs.

same here, I'm usually listening to a video in the back of any conversation so if that takes my attention i'll pop back like what just happened

That's a lot similar to how I do things.
Usually I drop manga and anime a lot.

yea it happens, it's especially bad when you want to bring up proof and you forget what the proof was

Sometimes I miss out on very detailed clues too.
