Why does so many Anime prioritize leaving a good message rather than having a good story?

Most of the anime makes it a point about how friendship should prevail till the end. There are many other touching messages and most of the time, I don't really mind them. However I feel that people watch anime just to view a good story rather than to gain the underlying knowledge.
So, what do you guys think of this?

lol may be because of the targeted audience?
you can't blame the mangaka trying to make the protagonist a holy mother or father lol

That's the burden of show that made for kids and teenagers, there must be moral value in the show

Probably because they think a story should be meaningful and spread the word, good can conquer evil.

Coming up with a good story is harder than it seems.
