Why do people judge live action so much?

i know everything can't be replicated and unless the acting is just plain bad, it shouldn't be given a bad review.
agree?

Live action versions have got a bad reputation because the first versions of many classic franchises were treated very poorly. Writers in charge didn't care to understand the source material so people are usually more reserved on them. The idea of picking a medium is because you want to best represent a story, and sometimes the story chosen is clearly something with too many whimsical elements that simply won't translate well to live action pacing. Unless the Live action is delivering something fresh. Most of the time, it feels like not only would a different medium (cartoon, cgi animation, etc) would have been just as good to make the film work, it would actually work better. For example, many cartoon characters work in absurd physics and mechanics so trying to pull them off combined with real people is a lot trickier than expected. Who Framed Roger Rabbit had a very good balance. I would say Space Jam also did good balancing our expectations at the time.

For me, it is honestly the subplot with the humans. I love the idea of cartoon character visiting our actual world and even making friends with a humans. that is exciting! But instead we usually tend to get that weird drama we are forced to sit through that feels eternal because it has nothing to do with the main characters or their overarching story. Rather than making a CGI story they shoehorn the human characters but like, without integrating with the franchise characters. That is the kind of stuff that lowers a lot live actions adaptations for me.

Now that there is a Zelda movie adaptation, you can imagine how nervous I feel about it.
I honestly don't expect being blown away, but just like with any live action I want to see the source material being treated with respect and not contradicting the main things we understand about their universe.
