Why do people hide man?

I don't get it too but that's just how the world works.
Everyone likes to stalk and that includes me as well. I am here most of the time but I don't login. I don't hide my online session though

Seeing people here makes others want to post but if they are hiding, forums look bare and people wouldn't be interested in posting

Some are just shy or simply just want to login and still not be seen. Though I really thought this feature was removed from all forum software by now.
