Why do men expect women to pay the bills?

i don't get it lol. don't men usually take care of women
the other day i went on a date, just a meal and walking around and the guy wanted me to pick up the bills.
if you can't take care of a women you don't need a women.
i think men should take care of the women financially and her money should go to whatever she wants. does anyone agree? at least men should spilt them 70% that's what a man do. if he wants anything otherwise, you are dating a boy than a man and this big @$$ boy would still be a boy after reaching the age of 100
 
I personally believe that the bill should be paid 50/50% or each their own (I think it's called "Going Dutch". Why? Because that way, there's no implied favors (usually resulting in something sexual) because your date paid your way.

Whenever I used to go out to eat, even with friends, unless we had worked out a "routine" of one of us paying, the next time, the next person pays... we'd all just pay for our own food. Granted, this also causes people like me, who are poor to miss out on going out to eat (or dating) because I have no money to spend on luxuries.

Maybe I'm just paranoid or ... jaded.
 
When my wife and I started dating, and after I got my first job I started picking up the bill because I just felt weird not doing so. I think many men will pick up the bill, but I suppose there are some cheapskates out there wanting the woman to pick up the bill. :S

i thought woman should have more ways to save as they have too many expenses

woman have more necessities and expenses. be it cosmetics or skincare or personal, they are in a way high maintenance. so it's inherent man should provide a little more to the woman. that's how i expected things to go.
