Why can't main character be the coolest character in any anime?

In my opinion the main character is always the best. Never came across what you are speaking about.
As for zidane it's a character from a game. I looked it up after kaynil told me about it

oh cool.
i think that's good enough but for fullmetal alchemist it's the best story ever. would you consider watching it?
