Why can't main character be the coolest character in any anime?

Because for them protagonist is usually someone who gets a lot of screentime and people wouldn't like that.
Isn't that enough?

Usually for others, that's not the case. They want to see more of support characters

For me, it's a little different.
I keep getting confused with coolest, smartest and then the good protagonists.

what's up with good characters? aren't all the main protagonists fight for the good.

It's not a big surprise. Consider that it has little to do with my first anime being a detective series.
