Why almost every mecha's anime got swords and gun as their weapons?

They are not completely equipped with them but rather they pick up a giant sword or gun.
So, what are your thoughts about it?

but i am sure you see that in dragon ball with that andoroid. but that could be seen in mecha too.

Maybe because it's the easiest to draw for motion animation.

If they are robots who are always armed, then they are pretty much invincible and people don't want such fights.
