When do you think an anime character will die?

It gets obvious if you see too many flashbacks of that anime character. Also, they get some screen-time which is just rare out there.
What do you guys think? Do you agree with this?

lol when they are not needed
and they have done the stuff to encourage the protagonist to become stronger then they will die
