What's the use of supporting anime character who can't fight?

let's just say you transmigrated into an anime series and one of the supporting characters is utterly useless.
but they want to protect everyone but making you fight for them. would you appreciate such a character?
i can't lol. so i don't get why most of the anime protagonists put up with them

If they are being a burden and causes constant trouble, then I probably wouldn't want to see such supporting characters in anime.

used to be orihime but i think she learned something as well.
there are plenty of spoiled prince and princess characters who are entrusted to the protagonists to protect

Usually they are kids like in battle anime between kingdoms.

They usually gain power later or they are usually too young to support the protagonists.
