What's the fun of tournament arc in anime?

What do you all think about tournaments in anime?
Almost all of them are very popular like Reborn, Yu Yu Hakusho, Fairy tail etc. What do you like in those tournaments? Just battles?

There is plenty of actions so it's entertaining

I think Hunter x Hunter did it best out of them all. Yu yu was good but was drawn out a bit.

and there are many too. and i liked fairy tail's battles too. they are seriously good.
