What made you like a genre ?

An entire genre? Difficult to say man. I don't think any one anime made such a huge impact for me

I think seeing my friend excitedly talking about an anime was what made me give them a go and explore genres I wouldn't have on my own.

Technically both happened around the same age, however at the time I didn't know I was watching anime.
If we're taking that in account, then definitely I got into gaming first.

that's cool lol.
i thought gaming usually happens first. people don't get it but all the games and even kids video games fall into gaming. may be i am wrong lol

Yeah. Basically in Mexico our open Tv was trying to fill space so they bought anime from Japan so series from Kimba, Heidi, Saint Seiya, Escaflowne, Dr. slump, Dragon ball, etc were airing during the kids timeslots. So a lot of us grew up watching anime before we even knew how to read.

In fact Dragon ball is very beloved in Mexico. The main voice actors are highly esteemed.

It was 2018, and the first season of the anime series Dragon Ball Super was coming to a close after more than 100 episodes. [...] In Mexico's Ciudad Juarez, in the state of Chihuahua, a group of young people sought the local municipality's support to organised a free, public screening in one of the city's squares. Hundreds of people were expected to attend. [...] Mayor Armando Cabada successfully negotiated with the [Toei Animation] studios to allow the screening of the second-to-last episode of the series. An estimated 15,000 people gathered in the city's Plaza de la Mexicanidad on 17 March 2018 and enjoyed Toriyama's creation.

Let that sink in, that amount of people in a tiny city coming together to a public park just to watch an episode of Dragon ball Super. '90s anime and DBZ defined a generation.
