What do you think about cute but actually dark anime?

Both are simply unique, with the little time I've spent watching anime movies.

I prefer dark anime, over cute anime. But then again, I have had issues before with dark shows and animes, where they went overboard with the level of "dark" in the show, and it makes me decide on if I dare go to the next episode to see if it would be just as dark as the one I just watched.
