Watching anime, now and back then

You guys and girls must be pretty aware that i just rewatch SDF Macross. Yes the very same series i watched in 1995 on TV. Watching SDF Macross in 1995 and 24 years later is totally different, back then i was 13 and all i care about is watching robot in action, that's all. But now i can see and catch everything SDF Macross all about

Well.. time change people, age change people. All those changes also change our perspective about life, black and white shifting as we grow older. I feel the same way about anime and manga, there are things that i like but now i can't accept, and things that i used to dislike but now become my preference

Well someday you guys and girls should try this too, it's fun

That's pretty cool, I've recently did something similar, I re watched clips (not the whole thing XD) of my personal favorite series of all time, Katekyo Hitman Reborn! And comparing the nostalgia feeling with a more critical and analytical point of view, a loooooooot of things change :O

Exactly, the same happened with some games I re played a while back, but with anime is somehow an unique experience :O

Ooh.. what games? I used to be a gamer too, from SEGA Genesis to PS2 era

not about this anime.
but i see the difference too. i used to watch just about anything but now i am very particular about what i want to watch or read

I started watching in 2012. My first anime were stuff like Naruto, Death Note, Code Geass, etc. I was pretty stupid and edgy back then and I preferred shows which had a lot of violence back then. I also didn't exactly develop any taste either, my preference was basically fast-paced entertainment be it with anime or movies. It was around 2016 that I truly started to learn about stuff like editing, animation, camera work etc and I started to differentiate between good and bad, and I also started to appreciate a lot of movies that aren't big blockbuster stuff. But for some reason this didn't exactly translate into anime. I judge stuff better but I still prefer fast-paced anime. I guess how I rate stuff has changed drastically but my taste has invariable remained the same. Plus I was always open to watching anime from all kinds of genre and there are only very few I don't like watching.

I think everyone starts out anime with a shounen anime. May be because of the popularity

Ah i see.. yes, knowledge and experience make us better at analyzing and judging. Maybe still need time to experienced change in taste, but who knows, only time can tell

Perhaps I didn't emphasize enough but recognising what's good and bad has actually been a major change so while my tastes haven't changed, I did end up dropping a lot of stuff in the last 2-3 years more than I used to. Although logic does prevail that I watched only the most popular and celebrated anime in my initial years so I'd have to go through trial and error when it comes to watching anime I like since I've only been watching it for 7 years.

You don't looks like the type of people who drop a lot of series to me haha..

Old me had some pretty surprisingly different taste. I couldn't stand watching some of he shows I watched then. But when anime is new to you you love it even if it's not the greatest shows.

'newness' is surely a great attraction. What did you watched back then?
