looks like the calinder messed up the fate strings of his and his sister's
but why? did someone asked him to do that?

But more like his grandmother messed with his fate and he shouldn't be held responsible for that.
 
I agree with rinko on this.
Even though granda is a bit blind she dfinitely knew it wasn't forest in that robe

probably she believes river is much more suited than forrest.

I really am starting to think the same but now, I believe she is too naïve.
 

I suppose she just followed in her ancestors footsteps and she herself isn't sure as to why it has to be done
