Should the protagonist always be the best character of an anime, according to you?

i think that's too much to ask lol
what are your thoughts on this? if possible i don't want the protagonist to sacrifice people for the benefit of the world.

No but they should have basic moral ground.
If that's not entertained, I would just stick to liking a support character with a high moral ground.

No. The protagonist shouldn't necessarily be the best character, which is a relative term anyway. What is being defined as best here, in what aspect? I could write a story that features a completely unhinged character, a maniac, but that'd be the protagonist.

in every way like the strength or the charm.
many people like the main protagonist wherever he goes unlike the support characters
