Sexualized

Do you think that anime has been sexualized in some ways? Do you think that this is harmful to anime or not?

I feel that anime is sexualized at times, but I don't think it's a negative thing as long as it doesn't go overboard.

I believe it depends on what you watch... most of the anime's i watch are R- rated so there is sexual references and some PG - 13 anime's might contain those refereces as well... but i rarely pay attention to it, if the story is interesting enough.

Well, it's inevitable..... Even in a show like One Piece, you can see the gradual difference in how they draw Nami over time, and the difference is visible, especially after the time-skip..... And, of course, we have shows like Fairy Tail which are infamous for its fan-service..... And, well, many anime, unfortunately, have female characters who are unanimously considered as 'useless' or 'irritating'(Sakura, Orihime, Misa etc.).....

This has never really bothered me at all with Anime, and people are shocked when they hear that. I mean come on, look how society has taken a very drastic turn with cartoons and music videos. You have provocativity lurking in just about everything now and yet people still make a fuss about it being in Anime. Yet you have porn easily accessible and sometimes it's not an issue for some.

I have in mind Fairy Tail which I think is too sexualized (in my opinion)? Anime is indeed evolving, and I can still remember comparing how Sailormoon and Fairy Tail differed aesthetically. Producers do think that their audience is now varied in ages, and having their animes sexualized is one way to cater the "needs" of the audience. But at least, the quality of the plot is not sacrificed over its sexual surface appearance to the audience.

if anime is purely of story and not echi, no one would watch it. it's like a story that we see in movies too. i won't watch a movie with a story meant for kids.

To be honest i don't mind about this at all.. it's kinda entertaining

really?
i think it's losing it's importance and trying to drive the plot elsewhere just to get some views. what do you think @grungie?

If it's use correctly it could be entertaining. I don't remember i've seen a story ruined by sexual thing because they are usually used for comedic purpose like in City Hunter or purely fan service like in Ikki Tousen

Sadly a lot of junk anime is flooding out of Japan that is like this, I don't mind a few but they are embracing it a bit much.
