Description:
140 years ago in Kyoto, with the coming of the American "Black Ships," there arose a warrior who, felling men with his bloodstained blade, gained the name Hitokiri, man slayer! His killer blade helped close the turbulent Bakumatsu era and slashed open the progressive age known as Meiji . Then he vanished, and with the flow of years, became legend.

Ten years later, a young woman's life is saved when she happens upon a strange wandering swordsman named Kenshin. The young woman accepts the wanderer into her dojo, despite his secretive past, and the two become fast friends. As their relationship grows, they meet and make more friends (as well as enemies), and they grow accustomed to their life together.

However, one man can only run from his past for so long, and it isn't long before Kenshin is forced to face the life he thought he'd left behind. Now, together with his friends, he must fight the ghosts of his past if he wants the people he loves to have any kind of future.

Personal Opinion:
Paired with amazing artwork as well as an amazing story-line this Manga struck me, While I may not be a huge fan of "Romantic" Or "Comedy" Type Warring Manga I don't mind as long as it has a good and proper story-line.
One small thing that bothered me but will NOT affect the rating is the Ending while a bit unsatisfactory it was still such an amazing read. Having one bit that bothers me should not affect the Rating.

is it related to kenshin's lover who betrayed him and died in his arms? there was a movie and i forgot what's it about but i remember seeing it after watching the anime

Romance and Kenshin in one sentence, is hard to imagine. I didn't complete all the movies of this anime so I only heard a bit about his previous lover before kovoru.

i mean yea there's that in there, dunno how much it is related

The series itself is named like that and people are confusing it with actual romance.
Aapparently the Tsuioku-hen arc adapted by Studio Deen that adapts chapters beyond the ones covered by the original series is apparently exceedingly beautiful, so my conflict is whether to watch this(it adapts chapters 165-179) or read from volume 18 itself(the anime covered the first 17).

My opinions about the material in the first 17 volumes: I liked the fact that it was mostly about Kenshin just helping everyone as he goes along, those who suffer in front of his eyes. He doesn't seem to have a larger goal, and he's an adult so we don't really need to watch him act like an idiot at times. Though the show itself can be silly at times, and I didn't like the two female leads, to be honest.

are you talking about kaoru and the old flame of kenshin?
what's there to not like about them?

Why didnt you like the female leads? I find that the little bit of dorkyness is what makes it fun to watch
